sensing one byte causes a roughly 20ms burst of RF

sending 50 bytes causes several busts

A test with one ACK packet each - using 1k file and 9600 baud rpm link took 5.7s whereas baud rate of 38400 only took 4.6s (times by hand!). This may show that 9600 baud link to radio is an unnecessary slowdown for probes.

One ACK per ten packets is much faster on an xbee - but on RPM small payloads are required (like 20 bytes) and a 100ms sleep after each send. 1k in 3.8s measured.
